Resource Consent Clearance

Why do I need resource consent clearance for electricity supply?

Resource Consent ClearanceIn order to meet district council requirements for subdivision resource consent, you require a resource consent clearance for electricity supply from your local lines network owner, in this case Northpower, in order to grant consent.

What is the purpose of a resource consent clearance for electricity supply?

The resource consent clearance for electricity supply is intended to ensure that:

  • There is access to the reticulated electricity supply network.
  • There is an electricity supply connection available where required.

Northpower will provide a resource consent clearance once the following conditions have been met:

  • Electricity supply connections have been provided (and paid for) where required.
  • Electricity easements are satisfactory where required.

How do I obtain a resource consent clearance for electricity supply?

Step 1: Send us a copy of the subdivision plans and we will provide details of the resource consent requirements (if any) for your subdivision.

NB: If electricity reticulation hasn’t yet been completed, you are welcome to contact Northpower Contracting to undertake the work on your behalf.

Step 2: Once the subdivision has been completed, we will confirm that a satisfactory electricity supply has been provided and check the electricity easements in place are satisfactory. We will then issue resource consent clearance.

NB: If the subdivision has been reticulated by a private contractor other than Northpower we will require satisfactory documentation to issue resource consent clearance.

When a line mechanic is in the bucket, he is insulated from the ground and when he touches the line, he is like a bird that perches on it. As long as he does not touch two lines at the same time, he is safe.
